Defence Construction Canada came to us wanting to replace their main boiler condensate tank at CFB Esquimalt as their previous unit had reached the end of its life due to internal corrosion. The condensate tank is a relatively small pressure vessel, measuring 60″ ID x 20′-4″ overall length with a wall thickness of 3/8″, and the pressure rating of the tank is 70 psi @ 400° F.
UEL created calculation, drawing and technical documentation packages as required to fabricate the vessel in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
The condensate tank was fabricated, NDE performed, pressure tested, coated (interior and exterior) and shipped to the customer’s location to meet April 12 delivery requirement. All main pressure retaining welds on this vessel were 100% RT (X-Ray) inspected for quality assurance prior to completion and final pressure testing.
